JOHN LESLIE WAGSCHAL

Born: Bern, Switzerland on MAY 15 1940          Died: Toronto, Canada on OCTOBER 22. 2002

Throughout ones life ones meets many new strangers but seldom does one meet a great man like “Leslie Wagschal” (to his friends he was simply known as “Les”).

He was always full of joy and he was a connoisseur of life until his very last days. He fought his illness of (Pancreas Cancer) as if he were to fight great evil. I have never seen such courage, love and determination in any man as I saw in my Dad over the past months.

His love and dedication to his family and friends was so wonderful and genuine. My father was my friend and my mentor all in one. I will miss his kind ways, his gentle smile and his wonderful humor. I will miss our talks and walks, I will miss his great wisdom and advice but most of all I will miss his gentle touch and loving ways. I have learned so much about life from him, I learned how to be kind and fair, and I learned how to listen. I learned that if you want something so bad then you have to work for it.  He has achieved so much and work so very hard for it. He was and always will be the greatest man that I have known and I am so very proud to say he was my dad and my friend.

 Over the years I have probably picked up a hundred Leslie Wagschal quotes about life, love and business.  As the end neared his joy for life and love for family and friends only strengthened. He once said that “I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge, that myth is more potent that history. I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts that hope always triumphs over experience, that laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death. “Death is a challenge; it tells us not to waste time... it tells us to tell each other right now that we love each other."

You will always be in my heart and I am glad that you are finally at peace, you will be missed by so very many and loved by even more. You are and always will be my greatest friend.
